  • Bas on the national news!

Harma has gone back home to the Netherlands almost two weeks ago. We had such a great time together and it’s strange not having someone else around, but we are both working a lot and enjoying the evenings together. Time is flying. We are already awaiting our next visitor, Jon, our friend from Ottawa, who will arrive February 5th and stay for a week to experience the true North!

Anyway, this is just a short post to share something pretty cool…. Sorry Harma, your dogsledding clip has to wait (it’s a difficult one to edit and get online, apparently because it was a pretty long clip, but we will do it soon, we promise, because it is a cool recording!), but we couldn’t resist posting this link today!

It’s a short clip from the national tv broadcaster CBC News, and Bas is in it!!! Check him out with his colleagues from the Science department. Bas can be spotted in the following minutes: 1.30 / 1.54 / 2.06

    Awesome, eh?!

  • Update April 3

It’s been a bit quiet on our blog…

Since Jitze left on March 24, we haven’t posted anything on our weblog. It’s not that we haven’t been busy since, but our life got back to ‘normal’ and we were mostly busy with working, volunteering, etc. So, there weren’t too many ‘kodak’ moments, like there were during Jitzes stay.

Last week, however, we did take some pictures and made some video recordings, because Judith was very busy rehearsing with her choir; the annual spring concerts were on their way. After some wonderful practices on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, the Aurora Chorealis gave two amazing concerts on Wednesday and Thursday night.

    Videos

We also have two videos for you guys. The first one is made at the Meltdown party at the Snow Castle. A local band named the Skinnys performed a song with very interesting lyrics to it.  The crowd was awesome on this last day of the SnowKing Festival!

The second one is from Judiths choirs concert.

Some more material on the concert

    • A video of ‘Sparrows’ by Carmen Braden, during our dress rehearsal
    • Pictures of the concert by Shane Keller

  • Movie!

    Take two

Yup. I ‘ve tried it once again. I already made a movie about our hotelroom back in the beginning of our Canadian adventure, but since that was loading every single time you opened the page it was absorbing bandwidth, both for the downloader (which in Yellowknife is not good since we have download limits) and it created a lot of website traffic (which is limited as well for us). But don’t worry. The new solution is just fine, for you guys and for us.

    How to watch it

If you click on the first link, if all is well you’ll just click on the link, it’ll open in a new window and you’re able to watch it. This shoudl be your preferred method.

Alternatively, if you click on the second link, the movie will download (about  3,5 minutes) and you will be able to play it with your favourite player (VLC or Windows Mediaplayer or something alike). Only use when the first link doesn’t work for you, although this second video may have a slightly better quality (yes, I am a nerd)

If by any chance neither of the links is working, e-mail or facebook or msn us and we’ll help you out later!
